DBC Philanthropy page
DBC sets aside an amount in the budget each year to be donated to charities. The amount designated for philanthropy depends on the success of the prior year’s revenue generating events (mainly the Double Century and Foxy’s Fall Century). In recent years the Philanthropy budget has varied between $4,000 and $6,000.
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for deciding which organizations will receive donations, and how much will be given to each organization. Although we focus on bicycling-related organizations, we also have donated to a variety of Yolo County charities and to other charities in support of DBC cyclists who participate in organized bicycling fund raisers.
During 2011, DBC contributed to several charity rides on behalf of member/riders. These organziations included Tour de Cure, NorCal AIDS, AIDS/LifeCycle, and Livestrong Challenge.
