We have reports from officers as needed and a guest speaker on various and sundry bike related topics. There is always coffee and cookies and a drawing for bicycle goodies. You must be present to win. The meeting's speaker and topic is announced on the DBC listserv and in the monthly newsletter. The Monthly Membership Meeting is held at 7:00pm the second Monday of each month in the Club Room of the Veteran's Memorial Center in Davis.
(Please note that the Club Room is in the courtyard behind the Multipurpose Room. To get the the Club Room, enter through the main entrance, which faces 14th Street, go past the Multipurpose Room and into the courtyard. The Club Room is to your right.).
August 9, 2010 Meeting
Special meeting place: US Bicycling Hall of Fame, corner of Third and B Streets
During the DBC tour in Quebec last week, one of our members, Bruce Winder, fell victim to a tragic bicycle/vehicle accident. On August 28 near Quebec City Bruce was stuck by a vehicle and died at the scene. His wife Ellen was thrown from her bike and suffered some bone fractures, but no life-threatening injuries. She is in good spirits and in good care and will be flown by medical air ambulance to Sacramento on August 5.
The DBC club meeting on Monday August 9 will be held at the Davis Bicycling Hall of Fame at 7PM. We will take a moment to remember Bruce and another DBC member, Anne Schneider, who died last week from illness.
We will present some basic information on the accident and update everyone on Ellen’s condition. The rest of the evening will be devoted to spending time with our fellow cyclists. Please join us to remember our friends.July 12, 2010 Meeting
Joe Santos will be the guest speaker and will fill us in on the latest news and equipment coming out. Hope to see you all there. As usual we will have great door prizes and gifts for new members.
June 14, 2010 Meeting
The speaker will be Marcia Gibbs-Neu speaking on behalf of farm land in Yolo County. She will talk about the various crops that we see all the time on our rides out of town and the efforts to preserve farmland around our community. We will also have a short presentation about a ride to support Multiple Sclerosis research.
April 12, 2010 Meeting
Guest speakers will be Joe Krovoza and Sydney Vergis. Discussion will
revolve around bicycle related issues before the city council. Come out and
meet the candidates!
March 8, 2010 Meeting
The March Meeting will have a focus on non-DBC rides. Bring your brochures and and your calendars to this event. You can share with others your favorite ride, organize carpools, ask for donations for charity rides, or present commercial rides to fellow riders of the DBC. Doing a Century or Double? Want to ride with someone? Come talk about it. Or just come and see what others are doing this year. Come a few minutes early to sign up for a spot at the podium.
