Ride with 'The Legend' through the rolling hills to and from Vacaville. The route varies according to the wind and the ride leader's determination. Generally, it goes west out Covell Boulevard to Road 95 (Stevenson Bridge Road), then winds south and west through the other "Ss" – Sievers, Schroeder, and Silveyville – to Allendale. From there, the ride works over the English Hills along one of a few available routes depending on the ride leader's inclination: south along Interstate 505 to Midway, then west to Cantelow and south along Gibson Canyon; or, out to Steiger Canyon via English Hills Road.
Alternately, the route might turn right of Road 95 (Stevenson Bridge Road) at Putah Creek Road and head west to Pleasants Valley Road then south into Vacaville.
However they get there, riders stop at Heritage House Cafe in downtown Vacaville for breakfast before heading home . . . unless The Legend decides to have breakfast at a small place around the corner. (Or to skip Vacaville altogether and just go to Winters. It happens to the best of us...)
The route home generally heads out to Pleasants Valley Road to Lake Solano, then east along Putah Creek Road, Road 95, and Russell Boulevard back to Davis. If there is a good southeasterly, the route might stay in the flats, heading east to Elmira, then working east and north to Sievers, Mace Boulevard, and home along Montgomery Avenue.
As the name infers, there are some rolling hills on this route. The hardest climbs are over Gibson and Steiger Canyons (or for a harder variation, Cantelow).
